35 years in the shoe and apparel business, the last 8 years as the C.E.O. of Wolverine
World Wide, Inc. (Hush Puppies, Wolverine Boots, Caterpillar, Harley-Davidson, Merrell and
others), I've retired to begin a new life. Now there is enough time to pursue goals, up to
this point beyond my reach. Being computer literate, learning another language, and
fulfilling a life-long ambition to publish a weekly column. FROM THE STOOL is a
lighthearted commentary on everyday subjects about which I have both strong opinions and
sincere passion. I envision a column modestly irreverent - perhaps a bit edgy - hopefully
interesting but not profound - from time to time funny and reflecting a common sense look
at the world from the perspective of a man on the street, or in this case, from the stool.
Because of the internet miracle, little of which I fully understand, I have prepared this
web site as a means of sharing my thoughts with those who may have interest. Please click
